I am a student and business owner in the United States. When I am not working or in school I employ most of my time in the rememberence of the Yemeni motherland. I hope to return permenantly in the future, but I am saddened by the course Yemen is taking. I so wish for Yemen to cleanse itself of its dominating Indian, African, and European minorities who have exploited the country once revered as the pinnacle of arab nobility. I long to return to a Yemen with a distinct arab identity rather than that of an impoverished east African state. I'm 27-year old Yemeni. Actually my grandfather was born in Hadramaut, Yemen. He came to Indonesia in the mid 1940s after he worked in India.
My parents and I were born in Indonesia and never been to Yemen until now although we still have some relatives there (in Seiyun). I'm a medical doctor and now I'm a residence at the Cardiology Departement, University of Indonesia.

i'm a yemeni born us citizen. the first time i came to the united states was in 1998 and i spent a whole year there. soon after that i went back to yemen on a visit that was supposed to be for two months only, but i ended up staying there for a whole year.

I viseted the yemen last year and spent three months, for the first time meeting my my ancles ,ants, cousenes, in sana’a and mawre, clayming, swimming, shooting hunting..ect. Unfortunately, I don't speak arabic and I've never been to Arabia. I will be going this December, inshallah, for my wedding. I will be marrying a girl from Abu Dhabi. This will be my first time in the middle east. Being an arab, this is like going back to my roots.

My mother is Zainah binti Ali bin Ahmad bin Thalib Alattas (3rd generation Yemeni from my mother side). My wife is Atikah binti Ali Ridha bin Ali bin Saleh Alattas (likewise, a 4th generation Yemeni-Hadramaut immigrant in Indonesia).
I was borned and raised in Indonesia. I lived in Holland-Europe for a long time where I graduated as Chemical Engineer in 1987 and was backed in Indonesia in 1988. I have been working in the mining industry - in mineral mining operations and mining services companies.
I haven't had the chance so far to visit my fore-parents homeland, Yemen (Hadramaut). I don't even speak Arabic, only a few loose words and sentences, but my father still does very-very well.
I am always interested to hear about Yemen and Yemenis from around the world, in particular those come from the south / Hadramaut regions of Yemen to hear their story and history.

My grandfather Alhassan Ibn Al-Imam Yahya passed away this summer and i always wished to bury him in san'aa, Ali Saleh refused my family that honor. I am a Yemeni but when I was in Yemen the dicrimination on work was evident because I am half Yemeni half Ethiopian. They discriminated against me and I had to leave my country. Now I am in no man's land.

I am an active woman working hard in my field. If I were in my country, I suppose I would have contributed good things for Yemeni women.

Now I am in Africa and I do good work. I am very helpful and active, depending on myself
and help a lot of people by giving them advice and solving their problems. I am very good in that and I become frustrated everyday because my countrymen didn't allow me to do the same within my country's borders.

Yemen is my land, my earth and my sky.

My father is from a village in the mountain territories between Sa'dah & 'Aseer where he lived until he moved to San'a in his mid-teens. As for my mother, her father is from a Yemenite village in Dhofar (now in Oman). The sheikh of the tribe her father belongs to resides in al-Maharah governate in Yemen yet some of the tribe live in Dhofar where they can speak an ancient Himyarite language.

As for my mother’s mother, she is from Aden, from a Hadhramowt family. Aden became the congregation point for both families, while Sanaa became my birthplace and a few of my siblings. The majority of my older siblings were born in the city of pleasant weather, where the people are educated and honest, Taiz, where we probably would reside if it were not ignored as it is and the complete centralization were not as it is, completely in San'a.

Yemen: The Mother Land, Land of Origins: One thing seems to be a common understanding about Yemen, it's that we all originate from it, have left it, and live out the rest of our days dreaming about it.

The Yemenite says:

I was wondering if the Yemeni people took any action with regards to the tragic murders that were committed in Jibla? If not, perhaps a Candle light vigil or something of the sort could be held in the memory of the innocent missionaries that died. They did a lot of work

First of all I would like to wish Yemen a happy anniversary. Its been 40 years since the revolution. I wish Yemen many more blessed years to come. I am proud to say that i am a Yemenia, but was born and raised in the United States. I live in a city with a great number of Yemenis( not to mention a growing # ). My first trip to Yemen was Summer 2001. I was really pleased with what i saw. Yemen is a beautiful country(alhough it does need some changes). I was also very happy to meet all the relatives that i heard i had, but really never new. They were really fun to be with. They showed us around the city(San'a),i really enjoyed it. I really look forward to travel to Yemen some other time. I hope the next time i go i will notice some improvements.

I HAVE FINISHED MY GRADUATE study at faculty of medecine ,Sana,a uneversity on Dec.1993.
Now just I am finishing my postgraduate academic study in Jordan, which I have started on Jan.1998 in the field of Clinical Oncology, which deals with diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors (cancer)by using radiotheraby and combination chemtherapy, and this type of medical espescialty is needed very much in Yemen because it is very rare and most of Yemeni patients who are suffering of cancers travel abroad for seeking treatment which is not available in Yemen yet, and this cost them too much money and suffering . I HOPE THAT the oncology center in Sana,a will be launched as soon as posssible in order to serve the Yemeni patients who are suffering of malignant diseases and to relieve some of thier suffering .

My father (alSyed Ali Hassan alNihari),God bless him had traveled to Malaysia Kuala Lumpur for a business trip, but unfortunately he never came back alive, he had fallen ill in the hotel where he lodged and eventually passed away in Kuala Lumpur hospital.
Some Yemeni friends attended his death after being informed by the hotel owners who informed the family about the event and my family asked them to send the body home (Yemen). So the did, the body flown home. Some of these people who did a good job kept in touch with the family and they assured us that they will send my fathers belongings in few days to come. Unfortunately now it has been nearly three months and we got nothing also we lost contacts with these people. Therefore I am asking those people, my fathers friends to get in touch so that we can retrieve his suitcase, briefcase, passport as well as if there is any will, if they are still in the hotel or with my fathers friends.
So I am asking all those attended, who know my father or about my fathers death, please, do some help and get in touch so that we can sort the matter earlier, and without your contacts the family cant do much
