At approximately 1 p.m., an explosion outside the Yemeni Cabinet left 12 people dead, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior (MOI). It is unclear how many bombs were detonated. The bombs were assumed to have targeted Minister of Defense Mohammed Nasser Ahmed. He survived the attack; however, the MOI statement indicates that seven of his guards were among those who died. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
