- A soldier was killed and another three injured when a bomb exploded inside the Police Station in the Khawmaksar district of Aden on Sunday.
- The Islah party has formed a military council in Aden, which was seen as an attempt to militarize the city, especially by the Southern Movement.
- US Senator John McCain demanded that Saleh step down and said that peace-keeping troops should come from neighboring countries, but without including US forces.
- Activists are calling Abyan a disaster area after more than 150,000 Yemenis were displaced in the area due to the ongoing conflict.
- An arts exhibition on sexual harassment against women concluded a two-month campaign this week. It created a website to monitor the safety of Yemeni streets as well as a Facebook pace, twitter account and videos on YouTube.
- Six Yemenis are reported to be held hostage in Hajj prison north of Sana’a, according to the HOOD organization for defending freedom. They are relatives of a wanted criminal and the police have decided to keep his relatives locked up until he surrenders himself.
- The Ministry of Interior issued a decree on Saturday ordering the confiscation of any unlicensed weapon in the capital city. The decree is effective immediately.
- The Yemeni national youth football team lost in the second round of the Asia Youth Football championship for under-19s. The team lost against the Lebanese team by one goal.
- The Eman Charity distributed clothes worth 9 million Yemeni Rials for the poor in Ibb to mark the upcoming Eid holidays.
- A religious sheikh known in Dhamar as Mohammed Al-Emam condemned Nobel Peace Prize winner Tawakul Karman, accusing her of ruining women’s morals and being involved in treason.
- Sound bombs in the Al-Rawdha and Sa’awan areas frightened three pregnant women causing them to miscarry during the last week, doctors confirmed.
- The armed opposition in Taiz took over several areas of the governorate on Sunday and surrounded the Khalid Republican Guards military camp, capturing a number of its commanders.
- Armed tribal men loyal to the Al-Ahmar tribe are reported to be spreading into the Al-Hasaba area where he lives, preventing locals from moving about freely.
